Phonics and LHFHG

I'm using Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Lessons with my 5 year old preschooler right now. I want to use LHFHG next year with her. Would I use one of the phonics programs with her or not? If not what should I use? She will be six in August and catches on very quickly. Trying to figure out this phonics/reading thing is giving me a headache!
Thanks
Ann

I would just continue working with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Lessons until you are finished. Then start the emergent reader schedule in Beyond. Or just read books until you are ready to start Beyond and do the emergent readers. Little Hearts does work with any Phonics program I did HOP with my son.

I agree with Karen....if 100ez is working for you, stick with it. Any phonics program will work with Little Hearts. It will get you to the right point and then you can move into the emergent readers in Beyond.
I don't remember seeing you here before and wanted to welcome you!
We are finishing up Little Hearts and I have to say, it has been so wonderful. You are in for a super year!!

Let me clarify what I mean. We will be done with 100ez before we start LHFHG. What should I do then with LHFHG? Do I move on to the emerging readers? Would that be an easy thing to do? Then when we move on to BLHFHG would we do DITHOR? I'm so confused!
Thanks

Ann,
You are correct in your thinking. Do the emergent readers with LHFHG and then DITHOR with Beyond. This will be easy for you to do. We just started the emergent readers as we finish the last few weeks of LHFHG.
Welcome to the boards. I hope this helps. Please keep asking questions as you need to.

Ann,
The ladies are doing a great job of helping you! First of all, I wanted to say, "Welcome! We're glad you're here!"
Next, I just wanted to let you know that you can go right into the Emerging Reader's Set once you finish 100 Easy Lessons. But, you will need the schedule for the Emerging Reader's Set which is found in the Appendix of "Beyond Little Hearts...".
You also have your choice of Bible with the Emerging Reader Set. The Early Reader's Bible is easier and more "word controlled" than the "Beginner's Bible", so it would probably be best to start with that one.
Here's the link to the Emerging Reader Set:

Ask away if you have other questions.

Hey Ann
I did 100 ez lessons with my oldest when she was 4.5 and I am now doing it with my son who is almost 5, we are on lesson 62 yeah!!!! I do love that book, it works well. I am just starting LHFHG this fall with both of them. I will continue to use books appropriate for their level of reading. I am not going to do the emergent readers yet with my son, I want to do a lot of reinforcing with him. However for phonics we do Explode the Code it helps alot and the kids enjoy it very much. Not sure that was any help, but goodluck,
Renee

Ann -
Welcome to the boards, and I just wanted to say that you're going to just love the Emerging Reader's Set! The books are wonderful, and they are full of all different genres. The discussion questions did a lot to "grow" my son's comprehension too. I'll be doing the set again now with my second son, and I can't wait to start! Glad you are here - and keep on posting - we want to get to know you!
In Christ,
Julie
