We are in the midst of the stories about the Mayflower and the Pilgrims in Beyond. It couldn't have come at a better time.

We watched Charlie Brown Thanksgiving this evening, where they are talking about the Pilgrim's voyage and settling in America. DD was fascinated! She said, "Mom!" and pointed to the TV. i know the living stories we are reading have made this part of history so real to her. I am enjoying it, as well. I hated history when I was in school. I feel like I'm the student here, but I look forward to the history readings each day. Thank you. HOD!

I totally agree. We ended up reading about the Pilgrims in the first weeks of November and about the Thanksgiving feast a week before Thanksgiving. This made it so real for my 1st grader, what happened and why we celebrate Thanksgiving today. I am so thankful for the depths of knowledge we are gaining even at such a young age! I certainly never had history become living for me as I feel it is becoming for her.

We're a little behind you guys, our pilgrims aren't quite at Plymouth yet although they've sighted land & have scouted around some! Oh well! Next week or two we'll get there! And when we watched charlie brown I was supposed how "accurate" it was and DD kept saying, "we know this, we know this!!" FUN STUFF!!
