Coming Home!

Hi ladies, I have missed all of you! DH and I decided to try another curriculum this year. DS was on the young side of the HOD guides and I knew I would have an extra year in there at some point so instead of going half speed we decided to try another curriculum that we have always been interested in. We've been at it for about 12 weeks now and DS is loving learning about different cultures, but I feel like all we are doing is reading and I miss interacting with the books. I talked to DH and looked at the pros and cons of HOD and this other curriculum, and he and I both wholeheartedly agreed that HOD is where we need to be! We are going to finish out 1st grade with what we have now - I'm going to be adding in some HOD style discussion and projects - but we cannot wait to be back to HOD in the fall. I am not glad about taking a year off, but I'm glad that DH finally got involved. I have asked him to look at curriculum and help me decide ever since we started and he has always just said, "Do whatever you think is best." This time, I asked him to listen and told him I wanted him to make the decision. He listened to what I had to say, and even before I was done, told me that we should use HOD all the way through! I am so excited. I have missed the boards and you ladies. It is always such a breath of fresh air to come here and I feel like I'm coming back home after a long time away!
I had a similar feeling after we took this past year "off" from HOD to study American history together. It's so nice to be back!
