State testing prep?

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question?? :? But I live in NYC, the state of NY, and my 3rd grade son will be doing the standardized test for the first time at the end of this school year. We've been doing HOD for a few years and have just begun Bigger Hearts. Just wondering if anyone here might have a good prep book that I may be able to purchase to help my son study/prepare and also that will give us a good idea what will be on the test and get him familiar with taking a test...?? I've heard the homeschool test is not the same as that in public schools, so I don't know if the type of prep book we purchase should take this into account...

Thanks in advance,
Charika :-)

In most states, they will have a free sample test (normally the previous year's test) available on the state department of education site. That would be where I would try first.

Our's is the Iowa Basics Skills test (we are in AR) and you can buy practice test material at many book stores. You might search HSLDA's website for your state and see what resources they recommend.
