How we shaved off around 10 minutes of math time each day

I let my dc write in the Singapore Math Textbook! :D Not having my dc copy all of the problems on paper or on a markerboard has dropped time off doing math each day, and their math scores on standardized tests have remained high. Singapore Math Textbooks are inexpensive, and dc have to copy some of the problems still for figuring anyway, but not as many. It's been a hit with both the dc and me. I just thought I'd share this time saving tip! :D

This one made a HUGE impact on Grant's attitude towards the "textbook" days in math, too! :D Thanks for the idea, Julie! It has definitely saved him time in math as well.

Great idea, Julie!

We actually did the same thing with our Rod and Staff student English book. I think they are around $10-$13 per book and I just let the kids do most things in the book. :D

What level Singapore Math are you doing this with? We usually just go over our 1A textbook orally before he does his workbook or hands-on activity.

Riley is in 3A, and Wyatt is in 5B. We are doing it with both of those levels. :D In 1A/1B, you could probably do it orally just as quickly. :D
