A Change of Heart (for the better)

I haven't been on the board in a while, but just wanted to share.....
My DD doing RtR was literally in tears the first two units having to do Shakespeare. She loved every other part of RTR from the beginning. But Shakespeare was absolute torture as far as she was concerned. I really don't know why. She was perfectly capable, something just didn't click. She simply did not want to do it. Nevermind that it's only one day a week--- It was awful (according to her).
So, we battled over it for the first couple of times. She had seen it was "optional" and somehow thought SHE was the one who got to choose. Being the mean mom I am
, told her of the err of her thinking. She finally decided I wasn't budging. So, she began to suck it up and resign herself to just get it done.
Fast forward to today (unit 8, I think)......
She opened her guide and exclaimed, "YES!!! Day Four!!" I just figured she must have just then realized it was Friday. (We don't do school on Tuesdays). But then she went on to say that she liked day four so much because that was Shakespeare day.
I came really close to make a big deal of her saying this. But (for once) I was able to hold my tongue and simply, nonchalantly say, "oh, are you liking that better now?"
She then proceeds to tell me all about the plays and how much she's learned and how great it is and how she's so glad that "we" decided to stick with it. (Again, I kept my mouth shut about the "WE" part
) and just told her how glad I was that she was enjoying it.
So, I don't know how much of this change of heart is hormonal craziness (she is 13), and how much is truly learning how to make the best of something, or just learning of new interests. But either way, it was nice to hear
