Hello everyone. I've been thinking a lot about goals for my dc lately. Do you find it beneficial to list your goals for dc at the beginning of a school year? I think that I want to give it a try so that I can look back on how far we have come in a years time. Anyone already doing this? Do you share your goals with dc or keep it to yourself? Thanks!

Back when I started homeschooling I did set some goals for the year and write them down. I didn't share them with my dc. It was really helpful because along the way things happened, and I was feeling really guilty that I wasn't doing a great job as their teacher. I have to say that was before HOD. Anyway when I looked at the goals that I had set at the beginning of the year, I was thrilled to see that they had surpassed them. So it was very affirming that they were making progress in spite of me. God is good!
Since finding HOD, I haven't really written down goals. I have small goals in my mind like where I see them getting in their math and how far along I want to be in each guide by certain parts in the year, but skill wise I haven't worried about setting any goals. I figure if we are following the guide as written and doing all the activities completely, the skills will come. It's always nice to have goals in mind because it helps to see progress in times when you feel like you are stagnating, but these days my goals are guide related and not skill related.

Way back in the beginning, when God led us to homeschool, I set overall goals for our whole homeschooling experience. I didn't/don't share them with our dd, but I refer to them regularly when making decisions along the way. It's nice to see, now that we are in high school this year, how far we've come, and where we're going, and what I need to do/add to get there!
HOD is a wonderful fit for our goals!!
