All right, so far I am loving HOD, but I have run into one problem. In New York, we are required to have 180 days of school and a certain amount of hours (it works out to about 5 hours a day). It is not so much of a problem with my son doing Bigger, because he takes a little longer than the suggested times anyways, so I can easily stretch his out. My daughter, however, is in Little Hearts and is flying through her program. We get done in about an hour and half at most. I already count music, lunch, and even recess as part of our school day (even the public schools do this), but there is no way I am stretching that to 5 hours. Does anyone in NY have this problem? How do you do Charlotte Mason shorter teaching style and still follow NY guidelines. I thought about coloring pages that correspond with her lesson in HOD, or maybe just extra reading assignments she could do on her own, etc.
Thanks for any help!

I'm from NY and posted a similar question. Julie answered with a link to this post:

Thanks so much!!! That was very helpful. I haven't been keeping track of my hours, only that we had homeschool or not. I guess I will not stress so much.

Re: Question for NY'ers using HOD
Honestly, I don't keep track of hours, either. I do keep track of our attendance and I have a schedule that we follow, so I could tally the hours if needed. After reading Julie's post, I know we're well beyond the minimum required hours, so on each of my quarterly reports, I simply put 225+ for number of hours.
