Our Nature Walk Yesterday

Just want to share this cute story from our day yesterday...

The children and I went out for a nature walk at a new hiking trail that we found close to our house here in TX. We were having a great time and stopped to have a picnic lunch in the woods. My sons began to play imagination games and my oldest said that he was George Rogers Clark (storytime biography in Bigger) and they began to act out some of the chapters in the book. We had our dog with us, so they pretended that she was hurt and that he needed to carry her back home to safety and then my other son was George's father, etc, etc. It was just TOO CUTE to watch them act this out.

Hope that blesses you all. It is great to see what all they really do retain from these read alouds! My oldest is a real outdoorsman and LOVED the story of GR Clark.

Blessings!

Ahhh...I miss nature walks! It's just flat and hot and dry where we live (TX too). We are used to living on the west coast where there is some great hiking! Thanks for sharing your story. It inspires me to get out with my son, even if the hiking isn't the best, and just explore God's Creation! :D

Good to know that your son retained his reading and was acting it out!

Where are you in TX? We are in the San Antonio area.
