Beyond Q's - updates or older versions

Hi,
For those using Beyond this year, I am getting my shopping list together to see what I absolutely need to purchase for my son to use with Beyond next year. I did read that the American Pioneers and Patriots was updated and it was recommended to purchase the newer hardcover edition.

Next, I have the older Stories of the Pilgrims book on my shelf. Is one preferred over the other for any particular reason (older or updated)?

And finally, Boys and Girls of Colonial Days ... I have an original 1925 hardcover edition by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey. Does CLP edit their versions or can I just use this one?

Also, I will be purchasing the devotion Morning Bells. Is this the only devotion/Bible study inlcuded in this guide? I do realize there will be memory verses each week, but since there aren't any other books listed for this topic, I was wondering about this.

Yes Morning Bells is the only devotional for Beyond.

The only differences in the old and new versions of Stories of the Pilgrims is that it has now been colorized a bit and the typeset changed so the page numbers are different.

I have no idea about the difference between the 1925 version of Boys and Girls vs. today's edition other than the newer one is colorized a bit. But there could be other changes, Carrie probably knows.

one thing to say about Boys and Girls of Colonial Days is that the title of the unit you are on and the Key Idea states in the bottom of each box would make it crystal clear which chapter you are to be reading.

For example - when you do the unit "Life in Colonial Philadelphia and Boston" you will have a chapter about Benjamin Franklin to read over two days and one about Deacon Drowne to read over two days. There is only one chapter in the book about Ben. Frank., and only one about Deacon Drowne, kwim? So you just would read half each day. I think it would be very easy to use an older version of that. The Stories of the Pilgrims it might be a little less clear, but not impossible. Carrie's key ideas are very straightforward and for the most part, it almost completely calls for it to go in order.

For American P and P [we LOVE this book!] the book itself is pretty plain, but the pattern is always to read the first page and the last page of the section you are in on day 1, then on days 2 - 4 to read the chapters in the section. These would match up perfectly with her Key Ideas, too.

I don't think you would have much trouble at all with other editions of the books.

Science is another story, as it hops throughout the book. That would seem to be a LOT easier with the properly referenced edition.

Since I must purchase the Am. Pioneers and Patriots book and the Science book, I will try to use my copy of Boys and Girls of Colonial Days.
