SO HAPPY WITH DECISION/ Thanks Carrie!

Post by rholliday » Sat Apr 26, 2008 11:50 am

Well I got my stuff yesterday that I ordered and I got so excited looking at it all. I was also very happy to read all the good stuff regarding HOD to MFW. I left my conference thinking I should take a better look at MFW b/c so many people I know do it. However, every time I have looked at it it just has not clicked with me. The first time I looked at HOD I felt it was right, I have never been to thrilled with MFW when browsing (not that it is not a good program). All the recent comments have made me feel much reassurance with my decisions. I am so excited for school next year, and we have not even finished this year yet.
Thanks Carrie!!

We're excited about our next school year, too! I'm very happy for you, Renee. I've forgotten which program you went with, but I'm sure you will have a wonderful year!

I, too, briefly whizzed by the MFW booth yesterday and you know, I didn't even feel the need to open one guide.

I feel the same way. I have always wanted to *click* with MFW, since so many people seem to love it. I never did though- especially since the phonics are so intertwined in K and 1.

The first time I stumbled across HOD, I thought, "This is it!" It seemed perfect for what I want to do with my dd. I was actually disappointed that dd seemed too far along for LHFHG because *I* want to do it! I am looking forward to starting BLHFHG and DITHOR though. And I do have a little one that will be ready for LHFHG at some point.

I will be using LHFHG, it loooks like that is what you are using right now.
I will be combining my 6.5 and 5 year old doing K and 1st. Thanks

That's exactly how old my kiddos were when we started Little Hearts! :D You are going to have so much fun!! I used MFW K also and we just sailed very smoothly right into Little Hearts. I've heard the Bible reader from MFW 1 goes well with LIttle Hearts, so it's good you've hung onto those things.

Melanie,
I must have been confusing.
I have never done MFW, nor do I have any of the supplies. Should I look into getting the book you mentioned ???
We are excited. My oldest is ready to do more stuff, we focused on reading and math only for 2 years. I am a little concerned with the one who will be 5. He is just learning to read now and do math. He will not get the dedicated 2 years of focus on those skills like the other one did, but I think he will be excited with the other stuff two and if worse comes to worse, after we finish LHFHG and I move the oldest up to beyond I can also do little hearts again with the middle one, I also have a a 2.5 yo.
So that is the plan (in pencil)

I am soooo sorry! I think I have you mixed up with someone else on here who was going back and forth with using MFW 1 or Little Hearts.

I need to keep up better....

And...no....you do not in any way need that book. Oh, I am so embarrassed...who was that using MFW????

Melanie,
No need to apologize, there was quite a long thread just a few days ago I think about someone leaving MFW for HOD. Reading that is what gave me "permission" let's say to not be IN LOVE with MFW. Up until then I thought I must be missing something since it just did not click with me when I looked at it like HOD did.
Thanks for the encouragement and letting me know I do not need to get anymore books.

Renee,

I'm so happy that you're at peace with your decision! I'm excited for you to start "Little Hearts...." too! My third little guy will be continuing on with "Little Hearts..." next year at age 6, so we'll enjoy doing it along with you! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
