My dd has just started The Reading Lesson and it is going really well. I would like to find some readers that she can practice reading on her own. Does anyone have any recommendations? My dd just turned 5 yrs old.
Thanks!

I use "Bob books" and ABeka K-5 readers, mostly the summer reading books. After ds passed lesson 12 in TRL he was able to read the ABeka 1st grade readers. Once he finishes TRL I will have him do the ER list that Carrie has schedule with the questions according to "Bloom's taxonomy".
I used it with my older ds and he loved being able to read "real" books, and the gradually increase in reading level.
Hope this helps and others will chime in on what they use before their kiddo's are able to do ER.
Success

We are currently on chapter 13 of TRL. We started with the Now I'm Reading primary readers, because the cartoons were funny. We mostly get a lot of level K-1 readers from the library - my daughter who is almost 5 likes the We Both Read series the best, because the parent reads the left side of the book and the child reads the right side, and she likes the shared reading. Now my daughter is going through her old toddler books and reading them herself (Mother Goose, Brown Bear Brown Bear, Jamberry, Each Peach Pear Plum, Dr. Seuss, those types of books).

Sonlight has a series called Fun Tales that I want to order, but don't have the money right now.
Also, I use Primary Phonics workbooks (some publisher as Explode the Code), and they have series of early readers too.
I haven't been able to order either yet, so I can't speak to their quality for sure, but they're on my wish list.

I have used the readers that go with LLATL Blue - they have CVC ones, and then a set that are more like CCVC/CVCC words and then a set that is a little harder again. They are great.

We liked the BOB books and Dr. Seus's easier books, as they are repetitive and helped my newly budding readers gain confidence.
The "Little Critter" books were pretty cute too, though they are a harder. Clifford books were also a favorite, and Eric Carle books were too. Hope that helps!
