Singapore Number Bonds

Hi,
This is our first week with BLHFHG and we are doing Singapore 1A/B. I purchased the textbooks and HIG's on top of the workbooks. While we are doing the hands-on activities published in HOD, I'm also using the additional activities in the HIG. One thing I noticed is that the HIG mentions that it's very important for students to learn the number bonds up to 10. My question is this: Did any of you spend extra time just on number bonds? We did the intro on Friday, with the whole carrot/cabbage patch/bunny activity along with using Lego block sets. I'm just wondering if I should just continue on with the published workbook pages in HOD, or follow the suggestions of Singapore and spend some extra time on cementing number bonds. We are liking Singapore and plan to stick with in long-term, so I'd like to do what's best for my child as far as cementing the number bonds concept and not skip extra practice just because it's not published to do it in HOD. Any suggestions or experiences?
Thanks,
Rhyah
