Do I really want to use Singapore?

I've tried sooo many maths. I even tried Singapore for my older two this year, but quit after 2 weeks. Can't remember why, lol. But now I have the chance to start my 3rd child off in Singapore right from the start. Should I do it? My oldest does MUS as she needs absolute mastery before moving on. My next is a math whiz and does McRuffy's. I think it's advanced and moves quick. My 3rd child isn't interested and didn't finish her K, actually, she barely started it. So, I'd have to have her do K and be 'behind' before she even really got started. I know that Singapore doesn't start 1st til 7, so I don't feel bad having her do K at 5.5.

Ugh...IDK...can't decide.

Is there certain kids who should or should not do Singapore? Should she (and I  ) be able to get it if we start right off with K and the lessons from LHFHG?

Is it a complete curriculum? I'm always afraid my kids are missing something. I really feel my oldest will with MUS, but I see no other choice for her but a mastery program.

Singapore math is an excellent and complete math program! The K level is a really fun place to start especially if you are using the hands on math from LHFHG to go along with it. You can also take the placement test at the Singapore website to see if she is ready for 1a/1b.

I do think Singapore is a complete program if you follow it all the way through the primary grades. I say give it a try with the hands on activities in LHFHG. It will be a fun year that you and your daughter will enjoy. The hands on activities make it so much fun and also really cements the learning. It will be easy for you too because you will just have to follow the instructions in the box in LHFHG. There's really no harm in giving it a try and if after a year or two, you don't like it, you can switch. :D

You are at a prime time to start Singapore. Starting Singapore from the start is such a blessing. It is a very complete math program, and with HOD's plans, it has a powerful combination of hands-on and written work. I'd definitely give it a go, but give it a year or two at least before judging it. The more you stick with it, the more results you'll see. HTH! :D
