Day Two Using Three Guides, Success!

Post by skwmackey » Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:59 pm

We just finished our second day using three guides: LHTH, Beyond, and RtR. I wanted to thank all the ladies that gave me great ideas with the different questions I had over the summer. The ideas ranged from how to help my oldest who likes to have quiet when doing his work to switching from one math program to Singapore. The key for our successful days so far has been our schedule (even for the little ones). I've enjoyed checking out the schedules that you have posted. That really helped me. My young ones really have enjoyed having specific things to do during each time of the school day. Our 2 year old especially loves it. Our two youngest are enjoying LHTH and our 4 year old cried this morning when he realized it wasn't his "official" turn yet. He is so eager and ready to learn! I was so excited to see our 6 year old who is using Beyond get excited about spelling. That was refreshing to see. He enjoys most subjects but the spelling stood out to me. Our oldest is enjoying RtR this year. This has been our best start of the school year in a long time. He was thrilled about the change in math, so excited to show his Dad when he came home. He is benefiting also having a quiet place to do a lot of his work. I have observed him the past two days and it amazed me how focused he was when we were in a room alone and the others had their own specific things to do. But, if someone else walked in the room, he had a difficult time concentrating. I should know this already since I'm his mom, but I'm trying to be more aware this year so everyone can have a successful year.

Thanks again for all your wisdom!

I'm so happy for you! It's encouraging for me to read that doing three guides is working out for you and I pray that it will continue to do so! The ladies on this forum are so helpful, aren't they? :D

Oh, and getting excited about spelling would catch my attention too.
