You know they've had big companies offer to sell their products (or even buy the rights from them) if they'd just take "God" out of their products?

You have got to be kidding!! That is sooo sad!
Really, though, I can see the big companies doing that, but it never seems to shock me less. How can anyone living in this world and see all of its wonders, not realize there is a God to be praised?
I am so glad that we can have this curriculum to help assist us in showing God to our children.

Thanks for standing strong, Carrie and Mike!!!

Mike and Carrie, please keep up the awesome work! It is so evident as I use your curriculum that you are giving God all the glory and are walking in faith with Him. You are taking the road less traveled and He will bless you for it!

Thank you for standing strong and following Him.

I have to laugh....I felt this exact same way when I found HOD. I seriously wondered why this wasn't being talked about more. I felt like I had stubbled upon a gold mine!

Now I'm feeling a little guilty about not visiting any other boards anymore. You guys are just so much fun and uplifting! I do give everyone I know (interested in hs'ing) a HOD flyer!

If you take a look at most of our major competitors, they are each attending 25-30 or more bookfairs a year. This means their families are either apart during convention season or are traveling half of the year while homeshooling. We choose to attend only 6 or 7 conventions yearly.
What it shows is truly living what you are selling! 8) God will honor it and it is showing in the quality of HOD curriculum as well. It's a good witness to us all that our own family is our first ministry God calls us to. God ultimately holds your success in His hands anyway, no amount of running around ultimately will change that. The curriculum sells itself. And I know God is using it to bless families. Truly He is your best promoter anyway!

Yes, yes and yes! Exactly the way I felt, too! Why hadn't I heard of this before??!! I am directing others here whenever I get the chance. And I haven't even used it yet! :D

I ran across HOD while looking for something preschool-ish to recommend to my sil who is thinking of hs'ing. I remembered from somewhere that HOD was for younger ages. As I looked at the preschool stuff, I felt so sad that I had missed it and sad that they didn't have stuff for kids my age... Well, surprise, as I kept looking, I found out there was something for my kids!! :o I was so excited!

I have no doubt that word will spread of HOD and that God will completely bless Mike and Carrie as they endeavor to honor Him first and foremost in all that they do. "What profits a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose his soul?"

Ok, Ok, so how come MY convention isn't one of the 6 or 7!

Just kidding Carrie! I wish you came here but I understand why you do what you do.

Just as an interesting side note...as difficult as it has been to find ANYONE who uses HOD (I'd never met anyone who uses it either) I did 'meet' someone on this board just a couple of weeks ago. She is in my homeschool group, and I recognized her name on a post here as one on an email I had received from the homeschool group. When I emailed and asked if she was the same...she was! It's so funny how things work out sometimes...we are planning to meet in person so we can talk and she can look over my DITHOR manual. So, keep an eye out...you never know how close some of the ladies on the boards may be to where you are... :?

And I am so, so glad that Carrie and Mike have been able to say "No" to some of those temptations. HOD is God-breathed, and I'm so grateful we've found it!!

Oh ladies, you are so kind! Your words are just lifting Mike and I up today, as we are in the midst of a mini-blizzard and MORE, MORE, MORE catalog work.

On a sidenote, thanks to Susie for starting this thread. We have people all of the time say, "Why have I never heard of this!" So, you're right on track!

I also wanted to thank all of you for working so hard to make this board an extension of Christ into all of the homes and lives that it touches! We could not be more pleased with the tone of the board, revealing the walk each of you (including us) have as we strive to live for the Lord on our homeschool journeys! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I have seen advertising for HOD in Old Schoolhouse Magazine and read about HOD in Cathy Duffy's book, but don't know many users of HOD.

Most people I know use Tapestry of Grace or My Father's World.

HOD is certainly an amazing curriculum and I am so glad to have found it!!

Give HOD some time. I haven't used it, but I cannot wait to start next year with Preparing and Little Hands. Believe me, everyone I meet will know what we are using for curriculum. :)

I agree. I think that preparing will be huge! It's a looks to be a different focus in a way historically and we are getting into higher age ranges. I think when the four cycles are written there will be no stopping it. And then you have all these moms that have been using it for a long time to say it is all great. There is no hit and miss factor with HOD and to me that is a huge difference with everything out there. 8)
