OT: Please pray for my son!
Re: OT: Please pray for my son!
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your son and his wife. That's a very difficult road for anyone to walk, but particularly a new couple and new Christians. I am praying the Lord will make Himself known in a mighty way in your son's heart and provide abundant comfort during this time. Also, praying about the insurance situation.

Re: OT: Please pray for my son!
Cheryl,
I am praying for your son. Also for those who are near him to have the wisdom & discernment needed to help him through his grief. Oftentimes, initially, people do go on auto pilot as they deal with the funeral details, funeral, friends & family grieving, & then find that the grief hits them hard a little ways down the line. When my best friend died suddenly, leaving a husband & 5 daughters, I did the autopilot thing, being strong for her husband, children, family & friends. Three months later I began crying one day & couldn't stop [I had taken on schooling her girls immediately after her death, hence the need to continue being strong]. I thank God for wise friends who were ready. Too often as believers we feel the expectation to "be strong" & put forth a Christian "face" for others.... Jesus doesn't have those same expectations of us... in our weakness He is strong & glorified. So much pain for your boy. I have a son nearly the same age, newly married... I can only imagine the pain you're experiencing as you face the loss of your beloved daughter-in-law as well as feel the pain of your son's sorrow. I lift you to our Father, praying that your family & your son will find rest & comfort in His strong arms. He is your Strong Tower & Refuge. I pray that out of this suffering He would birth beautiful fruit in all your lives.
Your son's loss brought to mind the Christian singer Jeremy Camp's similar loss of his wife to cancer within months of their marriage... his music reflects the maturity & depth of a man who has walked through great sorrow & come out on the other side stronger & more in love with Christ than ever. Perhaps, Jeremy's music would be a comfort to your son & help him to grieve his loss. Here's a link to the 1st song Jeremy wrote after losing his wife, I Still Believe :

Here's a bit about him:
From Wikipedia: Camp has been married twice. He and his first wife, Melissa Lynn Henning-Camp (born October 7, 1979), were married on October 21, 2000. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and died on February 5, 2001, when he was 23 and she was 21.Some of his early songs reflect the emotional ordeal of her illness. "I Still Believe" was the first song he wrote after her death. "Walk By Faith" was written during their honeymoon. In December of 2003, he married Adrienne Liesching, former frontwoman for The Benjamin Gate. They have two daughters: Isabella Rose Camp (born September 25, 2004) and Arianne Mae Camp (born April 5, 2006).
From his website:
http://www.jeremycamp.com/about.htm
"Jeremy Camp is a renewed man, that's why. Over the course of four studio discs and one live album, this grown up pastor's kid has shared his life with us. Through his songs we've seen the joy and the sorrow, his devotion to God, his fear of falling short and his certainty that Jesus is the answer to life's toughest questions. Even when Jeremy's message became painfully personal when losing his first wife to cancer just months after their wedding, he boldly wore the mantle of comforter, soothing the pain of others by sharing his story, listening patiently to theirs, and providing them with songs that expressed what they were feeling when their grief left them unable to speak. It was that life-altering tragedy that inspired his early career."
When I lost my friend,Jan, someone sent a card with this verse on it that really ministered to my heart:
Psalm 126:6 (New International Version)
He who goes out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with him.
It gave me hope that my pain would not be wasted but would bring forth fruit in others lives.... 2 Corinthians1:3-5 " Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ."
Crying with you & praying for you,
Liz
