Greek for High School

Post by dianeh47 » Tue Apr 30, 2013 9:15 am

Carrie,
My ds wants to learn Greek in 9th grade, for conversation and for studying the bible. I don't want to do Hey Andrew. What would you reccommend? I have been looking at Homeschool Greek, Basics of Boblical Greek and Elementary Greek. Also for learning the Greek alphabet, there is Greek Alphabet Code Gracker and A Greek Alphabeterion. Thanks for any suggestion. If you know of any others that are good, that I have not listed, feel free to let me know.
Blessings,
Diane

Diane, until Carrie can respond, I just want to put my 2 cents worth in.

My dd is in elementary yet and has used Hey Andrew for 3 years. She hasn't quite finished level 3. Anyway, I am looking to use something else and think Elementary Greek may be the way to go next for us.

My son studied Greek in college and used a Greek New Testament and David Alan Black's "Learn to Read New Testament Greek" as a textbook. It is a small book, but it is packed full of information! If he is a motivated student, he may be able to work through that. I also ran across a Greek New Testament parallel Bible on amazon which has both the Greek and the translation, which would be wonderful for a copywork activity. In fact, Hey Andrew has a copywork workbook for the book of John.

Just a few ideas. :?
