We're doing LHFHG with DS5 and he's loving it. His favorite part is story time He's always loved stories, frequently makes up his own, and says he wants to write books someday. When we come to a vacation time and have to say good-bye to our little friends in the green meadow for a while, he gets a little sad. He'll ask over and over throughout the break if we can please read more of the story to find out what happens next. So, before we start our first really long break, I was thinking of just continuing the storytime box through vacations (meaning I'd be ahead in storytime and finish it before the rest of the guide. I was then thinking of just doing other read-alouds until we finish the guide...continue using some of Carrie's questions and activities from the storytime box with the other books.
Does this sound like an okay idea?
If so, any recommendations for storytime books that are on a similar level to the Burgess books but aren't in future guides?
or, I'm just thinking as I type...maybe I could use some of the storytime books from Beyond (maybe do some from the classics list and then when we start beyond do the boys list, or something like that). He has excellent comprehension so I don't think that will be a problem in the harder books.
What do you think!?
