MTMM science storage solution

Post by Motherjoy » Tue Feb 19, 2013 1:44 pm

If you are using MTMM, how are storing the science lab materials? We are starting next week. My oldest keeps all of his stuff on one shelf, and I'll have to remove the lab equipment from the cardboard boxes and use something smaller to consolidate.

Motherjoy,

We store our son's science kits in a drawer, so I'm not sure if you have an empty drawer anywhere, but this works for us. :D The drawer option allowed us to just leave the supplies buffered in styrofoam in each kit (which for us keeps little ones out of the kit and away from potentially dangerous chemicals). :D It also keeps the two kits from getting mixed together or from losing needed pieces. :D

If you can't find an empty drawer, perhaps you could consider placing the kits in their boxes under your bed? You could use a lidded storage tub under the bed to hold them. We've done this with our oldest son's science supplies for high school, and it worked well. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

The cardboard box the supplies come in makes storage easier for us. My ds just puts his things back in the box, and we store the two boxes on top of one another in a cabinet in our kitchen. They are near our other homeschooling supplies, but in a small area off on their own so as not to be of any danger. This has worked well for us, hope this helps! :D My ds has absolutely LOVED his year with chemistry in MTMM so far. He really enjoys the experiments, and they have all worked! :D
