It seems all of your other social studies credits were covered but missing those two pesky half credits usually required in most states. Plus plan 2 looks like my high-school plan when I graduated in 2002.

Thanks Crystal. My state doesn't have any requirements for a HSed children to graduate. Neither does the college he wants to go to, they just require a transcript. That doesn't help me a lot!

It's odd to me they have no admissions requirements for coursework. Check other colleges to see what they require to at least get an idea of what's usual in your area just in case college choice or circumstances change.

I like plan 2 also. We are really liking A Noble Experiment for government. I am looking at Economics in a Box, but I am waiting to read more reviews.

Look at the degree program(s) requirements for whatever field he might be interested in. I bet there *are* some requirements somewhere.... if not for school admission, then for whatever particular degree program he'll be enrolling in. You may not know yet at this point, and that's okay... just look at three or four programs that you think he *might* be interested in, and shoot for a ballpark. For example, if you think there's a good likelihood that he'll go into engineering or computers, you know you want a greater emphasis on the maths and sciences than on history during high school. Otherwise, if you just fly through high school doing "whatever" because the school he's interested in (right now... which may change during the next 3-4 years) doesn't have any specific requirements for admission, then you may end up being unpleasantly surprised when it's time to get serious about college plans. I made that mistake with my oldest, as she's recently become interested in a college (and degree program) that was never even on our radar until a few weeks ago.

Besides that, I would vote for plan 2 because chronologically, RTR doesn't follow American. And he'll get some of the same content later on in World History, anyway, so no need to spend a full year on RTR. (I would say something different if you were following a 4-year chronological history plan, but since you want a year of geography in there, then skip RTR.)
