Fun Scheduling Idea!!

Post by Mercy » Fri Feb 01, 2013 3:26 pm

Just wanted to share the little system I set up.
Wish I had pictures to share, but will try to give a detailed description.

I have a pretty ribbon on the wall (for each student), hung on by a tack on top and bottom. On it hangs a wooden clothes pin for each subject with the name of the subject written on each one. This way we have a moveable schedule (if needed) and a tangible way to see what is left to do. When we are done with the subject the child can put the clothes pin in the jar. ;-)

I have a chart nearby that has all the days for the year. You can do this by quarters, divided into Semesters or for the whole year. I have it done by HOD units. Going down the left hand side of the chart is the units and on the top is "day 1-5" so they are undated. That way if we do "day 2" on Friday, no biggie. ;-) I actually dont mind this anymore. It alows us to move at our own pace, going slower or faster depending on the day. ;-)

So, when the jar is all full, then the student can check off the day, so they can see the progress they are making!

I found my children have needed a reward to motivate them. I am not super creative with rewards, but I have begun giving a quarter when everything is finished for that day. (They have to earn it! No grumbling and they need to stay on task!) For one of my children this is really motivating them to finish the day out. ;-)

I hope this makes sense and helps someone else as much as it has blessed our home. This probably is not a new idea, but it popped in my head awhile back and has been so helpful for us.

:-)

I love the simplicity of this idea! I am NOTORIOUS for spending undisclosed amounts of time fixing something up, only for it to be used 3 days! Clothespins, something to pin them too, and something to put them in when done -- fast, easy, effective!
Thank you for sharing this nifty idea!

I am so glad to see that this might help someone else! I have been around long enough to know, when you find something that works, you should stick with it and share it! Lol ;-)

@ witheagerhands - I too tend to redo and change too much, this has helped!

@ Starla- Yes, I think it could work for chores too! Just dont do what I did and try to make it work for YOUR schedule! Lol BTDT! Us moms are more complicated. I like the idea, it was just too much! ;-) I am thinking about buying the Motivated Moms app instead. I downloaded the trial and like it so far.

Have a great day everyone!
