DITHOR

Post by snadig » Fri Jan 25, 2013 12:10 pm

Hello everyone.

Have a quick question. Are you to get through the whole workbook in one year? I have gotten confused on how it is to work. I don't think we will get through all the genres this school year. We have been slow.

If someone can just help clarify how it all falls together over 2 years and I will look in the teachers guide to see if I can understand it more. So far they really enjoy it.

Thanks for your help.

I've been reading a bunch of old messages on this lately. It depends. :) Don't you sometimes not want that answer. haha

It depends on how much you want to do. I think that you could do all nine genres in a year doing it every day. It seems that a lot of people, including Julie
and Carrie do it 3 days a week or so and do 5 genres one year and 4 genres another year. Bigger schedules it every day and Preparing on up do 3 days. (I'm pretty sure)

Gwenny is so right! :D It depends how often you are doing DITHOR. In Bigger Hearts, the plans schedule DITHOR daily, which means a student will get through all 9 genres and an entire Student Book. In PHFHG on up, the plans schedule DITHOR 3 times a week, which means a student will get through 4-5 genres. We usually get through 5 genres. The next year, we finish whatever 4 genres we didn't do the year before, and we choose 1 genre to do again in the next student book we would use. :D We typically go through Level 2/3 twice, Level 4/5 once or twice, and Level 6/7/8 once or twice (depending on when the child is ready to move to 6/7/8). We've enjoyed DITHOR for so many years - I'm excited for you to begin! HTH! :D
