Loving LHFHG but questions

Post by Joyful3 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 12:07 pm

My DS and I started this week and we love it! It is even better than I hoped. Due to some hard issues we have been through with this little guy, I can't begin to say what a blessing it is to be having these kinds of interactions with him. He loves to learn but wow this is great!

For history, do we do the suggested activities in Little Pilgrims? Like the timeline at the end of the first section?

For math, we are doing other things but I think the hands on are fun and valuable. Would you suggest I just move through them, or find what we are currently working on and try to match? Or just let it go for now? I think he will be very ready for the math in Beyond next fall, even if we stay in LHFHG for the rest until we finish the guide. (I love that we can just pick it up again next year where we left off. This is giving me way more freedom than I am used to giving myself. :D )

I, don't know the right answer to your questions, but just wanted to chime in because we are loving LHFHG, also!

For math, we do all of the activities that are scheduled and then I (not currently using Singapore because I already had something) find the pages in the math book that link to what HOD is teaching. It makes more work for me, but I think it will help his day flow. I am planning on purchasing Singapore as soon as our tax refund comes. :D

History for Little Pilgrims activities I do most of the time. I don't know if that is the "right" answer, but it is what has worked, mostly, for us. :D

Carrie's suggestion is to just do the activities on the bottom of the new K Singapore books.
There are some pretty neat suggestions on them.

Linking the math activities up with what we are already doing (not Singapore right now) sounds really good. I found what we need for tomorrow!
