Hi I'm new to HoD. I've looked over the packages and I'm confused about the difference between Drawn Into the Heart of Reading and Preparing Hearts for His Glory. I would be using a package in the Fall with a 9.5 year old girl and an 11 year old boy. Do I buy both Drawn and Preparing or just one of these packages? I added up what I think I'm supposed to buy for Preparing... and got an amount of $710.09 if I don't use their Math or Psalm CD. That is including: Economy Pkg, Science, Basic Pkg, Extension Pkg, Independent Reading for 3-4th grade, 4/5 pkg, 6/7/8 pkg, Rod and Staff 3 and RS 4. Did I leave anything out of what I need for a full curriculum next Fall or did I include more than I should have? I priced Sonlight with everything but math and got $877.01. I know none of these include my using used or library. I wanted to see if I'm including all the right items for a full year curriculum for 2 kids.
Thank You
Erin

Re: new and confused
It looks like you have too many reading packages listed. Drawn Into the Heart of Reading is the Reading program scheduled in Preparing. For this you need just 1 teachers guide and then a student guide for each student. I am guessing 4/5 and 6/7/8. Then you need the book packages for each child or you can get books out of the library. You need to assess how strong of a reader your dc are and then pick say the 3/4 book package and maybe the 5/6 package. The rest of it looks good if you are planning on doing the extensions with your 11 year old.
