For next year for my 11 and 10 yr olds 6th and 4th graders I am thinking the Preparing pkg and chose the Economy pkg*Science add on*Basic pkg *IR for Lit 4/5*goings to use our own Math*oh and the self study extension! Is that how youdo it? Sorry if it sounds dumb just a little confusing and want to be sure I'm doing it right! Haven't started on 5yr olds curriculum yet. Lol

Welcome to the HOD Board, texasmom77! :D I'd be glad to help! :D Just to double-check, did you make sure this is a fitting placement according to the placement chart? Here is that link...
http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php

Assuming you checked the chart and PHFHG is a good placement, you would need to choose two levels of R & S English - probably R & S English 3 for your 4th grader and R & S English 4 for your 6th grader. Both of these levels are planned in PHFHG. R & S English is considered to be advanced, so HOD has a plan for dc to complete R & S English 6 by the close of grade 8. R & S English 7 and 8 are high school credit worthy. :D

I also would encourage you to get the Deluxe package. These books match the "Independent History Study" box of the daily plans in PHFHG, and many skills are taught that are built upon the next year in CTC. The dc share the history reading by using these resources, which is excellent training for them taking over the reading in CTC. :D

You may need a different reading level for your sixth grader than your fourth grader, but you will know what will work best there for "Drawn into the Heart of Reading" (DITHOR). Personally, I'd probably start my fourth grader in the Student Book 2/3 and my sixth grader in the Student Book 4/5 if they are new to DITHOR. I'd choose different book packs too, but maybe you are choosing your own books? You can either get HOD's DITHOR Book Packs or choose your own books, but either way, you will need books for each of your dc to read alongside the DITHOR plans. :D

The last resource is the "Lead Me to the Rock" CD. This CD accompanies the Bible memory work in PHFHG, but it is optional. Otherwise, you have everything you need to do PHFHG! :D

If you have more questions, be sure to ask away! HTH! :D
In Christ,
Julie

Thanks Julie!! I'm glad I asked because like I said its a little confusing on picking the right choices out! I will go back and make some changes! :D
My 11 yr old is a stronger reader than my 9 1/2 yr old but both are fairly good readers. Cant wait to get to get started!!:)
