help w/ narration

Post by momofjka » Sat Dec 08, 2012 4:09 pm

I have a 10 year old ds in Preparing. This is our second year homeschooling (so we are still new to CM style) and the first year he has done written narrations. I'm not really sure what is considered a "good" narration and wondered if I could get some opinions on his recent one:
(the box said to write 3-5 sentences)

He wrote:
"When Esther was queen of Persia, King Xerxes ruled. One night, King Xerxes could not sleep. So he asked to be read to, and when he was being read to he heard about Mordecai. He remembered how Mordecai saved him. So the King honored him."

Does this sound about right? Or should I expect a little more?

Thanks for any help!

I'd say this is right on track! :D He stayed on topic, the sequence of the events is correct, the spelling/grammar looks good, and he chose important parts of the story to share. :D As he moves through the guides, his narrations will get longer, and eventually his own writing style will begin to emerge, which is pretty exciting! But, all of this takes time. He is off to a great start! :D I'd be very satisfied with this. :D
