OT: Vitamins

Post by blessedmama » Sun Oct 07, 2012 8:33 pm

What kind of vitamins do you give your children. I am sorry to say that my doctor said, "Oh, just give them Flinstone vitamins." I am not on board with that thought. I do have a child who has a hard time focusing (6 year old girl) so I would love to find something specific for her, as well. Any ideas or suggestions would be so helpful to me. Thank you :D

My ds has mild CP and my dd has ADD and we give them both fish oil and it makes a difference for both of them. I have seen a big difference in my ds and his ability to remember things and my dd says her ADD medicine doesn't work near as well if she isn't taking the fish oil also. Just make sure it is a high quality one.

My son has ADD. We tried medicines, but he has tics so the one type had to be stopped because they make tics worse and the second type gave him an upset stomach. This was too bad since the meds seem to really help him in other ways. We had and continue to eliminated as many processed foods and food dyes as we can. We are trying to minimize the amount of sugar he gets and he rarely gets pop/soda.

After listening to several talks by Diane Craft and searches on the web, we've implemented a portion of her program. He takes fish oil, probiotics, and grapefruit seed extract each morning. All of this seems to be helping. We have been doing this since June. We may add more of her program if this does not seem to be enough, but this is what we felt led to do for now.

Hope that helps.

we have used all the above w/o success, so I suspect it is an individual thing. But we found the best success for our son with Ontasknaturally.com It is a vitamin supplement containing zinc, mag. and b6. if you go to the site you can read about their journey. I know some of DC's protocol include those supplements, but we did the whole protocol of hers and it incl. vita B complex, not just the vit b-6. not to mention it was way too many supplements to have a wee guy taking all the time. With the on task vitamin, it is 2 capsules or the chewables. 1x day. how easy is that
hope this helps

Our youngest takes Rainbow Light or our local HFS vitamins with probiotics, cod liver oil- and D3 in the winter.

We avoid manganese so I don't do the Multi vitamin thing.
She takes magnesium, as well as trace mineral drops (bio available) in her morning drink.
Magnesium is such a stress reducer if we don't give it I see it.
