Just a funny story
We are in LHTH and this week we have been learning about Joseph and how the people had to listen and obey him so they would have food to eat. Due to kids being sick this week, we've been just reading the stories, and picking and choosing activities - not really going by the book... (Sigh, we'll get back on track next week!) One of the activities was Joseph May I. I usually try to wait on these kinds of things for when my DH gets home from work, so that my DD can get a better idea how to play (by having someone to play with her), versus me just trying to give her directions to follow. Plus he really likes to be involved with their schooling as much as possible.
Well last night at supper she was not wanting to eat, kept getting out of her chair to walk around... So I casually said "O do you remember how in our story Joseph was a very important man, and they people had to listen and obey him?" "Yes" she said. "Well, daddy is our important leader in our home and we have to do what he says. Since he is a lot like Joseph, lets play a game and let daddy pretend to be Joseph!" - Oh, she got excited and a bit silly at this idea! So we played "Joseph Says". Joseph would say things like "take a bite of your food" - "wipe your face with your napkin" - and because we aren't complete "meanies" (and because my husband is a big kid) we even had to "walk like an Egyptian"
It was a great way to adapt and incorperate our school activity into family time, AND it got our daughter to eat her supper! Win-Win!!

Re: Just a funny story
Oh! I remember those days of getting up from the table with my 3 yo (now almost 6 yo)! Those were some frustrating times! And I am sure our littlest one will soon follow suit! That is a really cute story! Thanks for sharing!

Amanda,
This is too cute! You are very creative. What we don't go through to get those little ones to eat.
Blessings,
Carrie

What a fun idea! How neat to carry over the learning to the supper table! It is so important to have moments like this together as a family. Kuddos to you for seizing the moment and running with it!
