Pace for DITHOR

Post by gmhaynes » Sat Jul 07, 2012 6:55 am

We are starting Preparing in the fall, so this is the first year with a 4 day unit. Does anyone have any suggestions for setting the pace for DITHOR for the year? In Preparing, it is only set for 3 days per week (105 days for the year) but there are 180 days for lessons in the DITHOR guide. Did you guys do all of the genres? Did you pace the book a little faster or make the project time shorter at the end of each genre?

Thanks for any help on this! Trying not to reinvent the wheel if someone else has done it before and it worked well.

We did it just as scheduled in Preparing which means you get through 4 or 5 books one year and then do the rest the next. This has worked out really well. With all the other reading dc are doing in Preparing and on up having DITHOR scheduled just 3x's a week provides a nice balance. My ds does usually get the project done in 3-4 scheduled DITHOR days, so I guess we do shorten that by a day or two.

We did/do this exactly. Works well for us too. Just the right balance.

Thanks so much, ladies! This totally goes against my grain to not finish it when we finish everything else, but I will have to let go of that. :D
