LHTH repeat?
Hi! Has anyone done LHTH with one child, over and over, changing the books used? I have a 2year old, who will be 3 in July, and would like something set up like HOD that keeps me engaged with her (she has 3older siblings and it's easy to go a whole day without really being with her. Also, LHTH would give Big Sisters and Brother an agenda to use with her when Mama is working with someone else....or having a baby

Re: LHTH repeat?
I'm actually going to be doing this very soon with my 2-year-old (October Birthday) because she's BEGGING to do lessons. We're almost finished with our current school year and will begin with our next school year in July after vacation. I'm just going to go through it and we'll probably get done early, so I'll go through it again. At this age the repetition isn't a big deal. I figure if she can handle reading the SAME book repeatedly during the day, she can repeat the lessons in LHTH!
I also got her the Rod and Staff books for 3 year olds (on their website). She really likes to have books to write in like her sisters. You can pick up some really simple ones at the dollar store too.
Also, after having done LHTH part-way through two different times with my older girls...I know it's a possibility we may not get through everything at all! The thing is that life happens
Babies come, kids get sick, things just have a habit of coming up. I'm more committed this time around since I'll have two others I'm homeschooling, but I'm aware I may not make it through!

Re: LHTH repeat?
I'm planning to do LHTH 3x with my DS. He is almost 3. I'm going to change up the reading a little each year.
Year 1 (3) - The Child's First Bible and Big Thoughts for Little People (possibly only the big points and verses)
Year 2 (4) - The New Bible In Pictures for Little Eyes and Big Thoughts for Little People (all of it)
Year 3 (5) - The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes and My ABC Bible Verses
I also have the Christian Light Education Beginning Activity Books http://www.clp.org/store/by_grade/2 and the Rod & Staff ABC Series http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com/item/1- ... _Preschool.
He wants to do school like DD does!

Re: LHTH repeat?
My now 6yo DD did LHTH twice in a row. The second time around, we used the older bible and devotional and I did all of the "older options" on the activities. I also added in phonics and a few other supplementary workbooks and such. She loved it. My 4yo DS has gone through it once. He's doing something else this year and next, but I've toyed with putting him through it again for his K year, but adding in the K math from LHFHG and more phonics (which he is already doing) because I'm not sure if he'll be quite ready for LHFHG then.

Re: LHTH repeat?
We are doing it twice. This time I'm telling the stories (using the Key Idea) and just discussing main points (be kind, don't lie, etc) I'm doing all the fingerplays, letter work, and count on me/math stuff.
No matter where we are, when she turns 4 we are going to start over and actually go through the program as written (reading Bible stuff, doing devotions, etc.) and depending on where she is with fine motor skills I may or may not add in the Do it Carefully/Finding the Answers from LHFHG. We'll see later in the year how far she's come with that though.

Re: LHTH repeat?
Thanks, girls!
Here's what I decided to do:
SA will be 3 in July, so we'll be starting LHTH near August (after all trips are over and DOH! right when the 'maters are ready to can!) using the 2-3 year materials, but it will be super loose. Bible, hand rhymes, whatever. Mostly, it will be to begin training ALL OF US to set aside time for her, and to have a smidge of structure, during the day.
Next year Age 4, we'll do it again, but go to the next level. I already bought the 4 little R&S workbooks for her, but I have no intention of doing them until next year -- I just ahd a chance to get them cheap, and I LOVE those R&S books!! It's all floating around in the Land of Maybe's, but I see us doing it again, with maybe a box or two more or something. Eldest will be in CTC and DITHOR, EK will be in Bigger, and HR will be in Beyond. babe will be running amuck, I am sure.
Next year is age 5, and I intend to go at it full force. By then, things will be settling down (what! it takes 2 years to settle down?? That's how I roll....so I might be pregnant again by this time...'cause it's how I seem to do things, lol!) But the oldest chldren will be rockin' the RTR and DITHOR, EK will be in Preparing with DITHOR, and HR will be in Bigger. The Wee one will be climbing in the cabinets
I feel at peace about the plan, and if it needs to change, ......ummm...I'll work on that
