Bibles in HOD

Post by homeschool mom » Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:26 pm

I know the younger levels include a Bible in the book packages. After that, are there recommended Bibles for each new level? I am trying to find a New King James Bible for a junior high school boy.

You are easily able to use any Bible you choose for the guides. :) The early guides use the Bible storybooks as part of the history and emerging readers sets. :)

Yep! Once they're past the Bible storybooks, you're on to a regular Bible of your choice.

We made this a special gift for each of our sons when we reached this point in HOD. We went to Crossroads and chose a Bible cover together, as well as the Bible (which I really helped choosse  ). They had so many choices for Bible covers! It was neat to look at them and choose. We began hi-lighting the verses HOD has the dc memorize in their personal Bibles at this point. It has been very special to flip through their Bibles and see all of the verses and passages they have memorized through the years. It becomes quite a number! They also like to get their Bibles and flip through them to find the hi-lighted verses/passages when writing a card to encourage someone. Those verses are usually landmark verses that bring comfort in times of need, or joy in times of celebration. Just thought I'd share as this is such a neat side benefit of the way HOD does Bible! Very, very personal - each of our ds's truly loves their Bible as their own! :D
