DITHOR Question About Reading 2 Books For 1 Genre

When the child is assigned two books for one Genre; are they discussing both books?

If they are reading Historical History "Hannah" & "Pioneer Cat" how does this work?

Could someone please explaine this.

I recieved my copy of DITHOR and like what I see. I'm really excited about starting this program. It looks wonderful!!!

It took me a while to figure this out, too. (And I haven't actually done DITHOR, but I do have books and the guide.

) Here's a link to the book pack that you were talking about...http://www.heartofdakota.com/drawn-into-optional2.php If you're doing more than one book per genre, you're splitting the 15 days for the genre between the 2 books. (It says "suggested days for reading this book" somewhere under the title. Like one for 10 days and the other for 5 days...) I decided to go with one of the book packs so that I could have the number of days to read the books decided for me until I get a feel for the program. So, you would read and discuss one book...then read and discuss the other. I'd guess your project at the end could be about either book.

I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in here, too.

Kathleen is exactly right! In the student books (on the page behind the cover page for each genre) you'll see a calendar. The calendar is for 15 days of reading within the unit. At the top of the calendar, you'll see your book options for those 15 days.

The options are as follows: You can read 1 book for all 15 days, OR read 1 book for 5 days and 1 book for 10 days, OR you can read 3 books for 5 days each. The reason the plans are set up in 5 day increments is because every 5th day is a pre-reading day. This pre-reading day either sets the stage for a new book, or spurs the kiddos on with new excitement for the book they're still continuing on with. The pre-reading activities work either way.
