looking for SE MI HOD users

Post by troodlesn » Sat Feb 18, 2012 6:11 pm

Hi HOD community!

I am exploring HOD and would love to meet someone in my area who uses it. I am in the Detroit area, but am willing to drive a bit if necessary. I currently have 3dc in public school and the Lord has been leading us to being homeschooling our oldest ds who will be 11 next week (currently 5th gr.). I have many friends who homeschool, but none who use HOD. A friend gave me the catalog and I love everything I see :D , but I am honestly afraid to take the plunge without seeing it first-hand.

Thank you!
Trudy

Trudy,

I'm not sure if you have seen the Sample Pages part of our website, but reading the Introduction and going over the Sample Week will really help you "See Inside" an HOD guide. :D Link: http://www.heartofdakota.com/sample-pages.php

Plus, the weekly check-in is a great way to see inside family's homes as they use HOD. :D I'll link it here: viewforum.php?f=14

Last, the scrapbooks are a wonderful way to glimpse HOD. Link: http://heartofdakotasphotobooks.shutterfly.com/

We're all glad to answer any questions you may have, so feel free to ask away! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Thank you, Carrie, for the links. Yes, I have read all the intro's, have looked at the samples and looked at a few of the board posts. I will look back through the weekly posts and the photo books and see if that helps. My thoughts after looking at the program placement chart is that my ds could fit well in RTR or possibly even RevtoRev. However, being new to narrations and dictation and homeschooling in general made me wonder if I was being over-confident. I had spoken to Mike on the phone last week and he suggested I post here. He pointed me to CTC or even Preparing since we're new to all this. However, we are making this shift away from ps in part because my ds isn't being challenged enough. I want him to have the right amount of "challenge".

Thank you to countrymom and netpea for responding too. I am encouraged! :D

toodlesn,

If you get a chance to take a look at the placement chart, focusing mainly on the first page of the chart, and then pop back and share where you think your son fits best in each of the areas on the first page of the chart, we'd be glad to talk through placement options with you! :D

Here's a link to the chart: http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php

Blessings,
Carrie
