About these watercolour paintings...

I was thrilled to see that my son would be learning watercolour painting since I had enrolled in watercolor classes at our local college this past year. However, I am having a hard time envisioning the project. I read and re-read, but I am just not getting it. Must be my learning style. Is there examples of the finished projects (or better, works in progress) online somewhere so I can get a clue? I would love to see what these are SUPPOSED to look like! ;o)
