Yesterday, Angie(dd8), Allison(dd22), and I went to eat lunch at Pizza Hut. We had a very nice waitress and Angie was fascinated with all that she was doing. The waitress wasn't very busy, so she was by our table quite often and asked us several times if everything was okay. Angie questioned, at one point, why the waitress kept asking us that. I told her that was her job. She would bring things if we needed them. When it came time to leave, we got some money out for a tip and I explained to Angie that we give the waitress extra money for bringing us our food and cleaning our table(Angie wanted to clean the table). I mentioned that we had a very nice waitress. After putting the ususal 15% on the table, I went to use the restroom. When I got back to the table, there was another $.50 with the tip. (Angie had change in her pocket from my stash in the van). I said, "Angie, you don't need to put more there. $3 is enough." I don't know who spoke first. I think Allison, who said, "She wanted to be kind." But about the same time Angie leaned up close to me and half whispered, very matter-of-fact, "God wants us to be kind to others." What could I say? She put me to shame.

Thank you again, Carrie, for making the BIble and it's principles the basis of our teaching HOD. It is definitely helping to build a firmer foundation in Angie's life.
I was talking to my son, who is a pastor, last evening. I shared this story with him. He kept saying, "That's good." "That's good." I told him that Angie is like Laura(our 24yo) who would give away anything when she was younger. He said, in so many words, "That's okay. The Bible says, 'Give, and it shall be given to you.....' Those willing to give are the ones who will receive the most." I do like to give, but I needed to be reminded of this Scriptural truth.
BTW, at supper, Angie was being waitress for Mom and Dad. She wanted money left on the table.

She pretended to write up a bill. I counted out some more coins for the bill. She gave most of it back as change.

We're going to work on money soon.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. III John 4
