Audio Books

Post by MelInKansas » Fri Nov 25, 2011 3:50 pm

Does anyone else's child love to listen to Audio Books? This year for Christmas we are probably getting a CD player my DD can use upstairs for her rest time to listen to audio books. The question is how to come up with the audio books? I have browsed my library's collection and most of the childrens/young adults are not really ones I want my kids hearing (we have Narnia already, those are about the only good ones my library has). So, I can do inter-library loan for some more of the Little House ones and things like that.

Does anyone have any good sources for finding good audio books, or getting them for a reasonable price? It seems to me like you should be able to download them too, and I found one site where you can for $7.49 or so, but of course they don't have a very good selection from what I have seen so far. Sometimes the task of trying to figure out what will be good for my children to read or listen to is very tiring to me!

Librivox.org has a multitude of audio books that can be downloaded for FREE! :D The books are read by volunteers, so some of the narrators are better than others, but we've found most of them to be very good. (Moderator, please feel free to delete this link if it is not something you want on your website! :D )
