RtR half speed?
RtR half speed?
Our ds11 needs some time to focus on some character issues, and I'm wondering if taking RtR half speed would give me the time to focus more on his heart and character for a few months or the rest of the year depending on the improvement seen. My question is how would I go half speed with RtR? We haven't gone half speed before and I just don't know how to go about it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: RtR half speed?
HI Stephanie,
I've read that "everything stops for character training", so I think you are on the right track if you feel this need.
As far as half-speed, I only know what I've read from others here, but I think you do one page of the manual one day, and the other page the next day (rather than both pages each day). I'm sure the other ladies will be able to confirm or clarify this for you.

Re: RtR half speed?
Character issues are important, and homeschooling with HOD offers excellent opportunities for training dc to have Godly character traits. I like that HOD gives me the chance to come alongside my dc and work on character concerns with them in a way that has me partnering with them, by sharing my own things to work on or things I have struggled with, while also helping them identify their own concerns. I have found it is well worth the time to slow things down to half-speed for a portion of time to train dc how to properly do each box of plans in the guide, as well as to teach dc what the appropriate attitude toward work in school should be. So, I think this is a good idea for a designated period of time, and I agree with the pp, that many moms do one side of the plans one day (i.e. the left side), and the other side the next day (i.e. the right side). This is an easy way to go about going half-speed. However, it is just one way of many. Here is a link to a thread that shows different ways of going half-speed, and though they may be for different guides, the gist of it would be the same...
