Did I do something wrong?!?!

Post by 7mommy » Wed Apr 23, 2008 11:57 pm

We are on our 1st week of LHTH. It is awesome. :)
I have one question....
The white crayon and paper and black paint activity......
We had to do this twice because it did not work. :( The second time I colored over his drawing and it worked better. Should it be thin paint?

He is not much of a colorer so maybe that is it? I had to really coax him to do the activity. He drew the Wiggles who were basically stick people. When that didn't turn out, he decided to make their door. (not really the point of the activity)

He really loves the Antelope!!

Hi Becca,

Not sure what went wrong... when we did that activity we used a white crayon on white, smooth (not construction) paper to draw simple objects. We then used black tempera paint and diluted it (thinned it) a bit with water to make it more sheer as opposed to thick and heavy so that the crayon could more easily repel the paint and the images would show up. So, maybe the paint was a bit too thick?

By the way, I think "The Wiggles" are perfectly appropriate since God created all things!

We did it with watercolor paints and it worked well. I would say the paint was too thick.
