Anyone use and have success w/ Phonics Pathways?....

Post by Blessed with seven » Fri Jan 04, 2008 7:43 am

Hi,

I have been using this, it approaches things a bit different w/ consonant/vowel but..I was just wondering if I should stick w/ PP or try one of the recommended programs from this website?

Thanks!

Kim

i used this when i was remedial teaching my older son (who was 12-ish at the time)

it's a good program, but i wouldn't use it as a stand alone, learn to read type thing...it's great as a supplemental tool

Hmmm...I was thinking of using this to help with my "phonics/reading dilema". :?
Barbara, do you think it would work to use this paired with the emergent readers scheduled in Beyond? Did you find there was much missing from the book?

Thanks, Melanie

well, umm, i don't know what the emergent readers are yet

but yes, i think it can be used WITH any other program or readers that you wanted to. The book is very thourough IMO. I belive she has/had a Yahoo loop also. That may help

Thanks Barbara! I'll look into the yahoo group. The book does seem to be very complete and would probably be good for spelling also. I am really struggling with this decision...what to use next year to complete phonics... :?

BTW, I really enjoyed reading your blog!

oh thank you...i'm never sure if i sound completely loopy or not

i'll say this one other thing on Phonics Pathways, my son that i was using it with remedially, he almost couldn't read (he has some ADD issues and was NOT taught reading well) it really helped him to break the words down and READ better...now, does he ENJOY reading? nope, never did :? but at least after going through that book i was assured that he COULD
