OT: Tip for labeling leftovers in your refrigerator

Post by Heart_Mom » Wed Aug 24, 2011 2:45 pm

I used to try to label leftovers with masking tape so that I knew how long something had been hanging around in my refrigerator, but since that took a little time to do I rarely actually did it.

I recently discovered that wet erase markers written directly on the container work great for this! (And I don't have to get out any masking tape!) I've used them on the plastic lids of glass food storage containers, and also on my glass containers. When I'm doing storing that particular food, the marker just rinses off. (I guess I can't promise that it won't leave any residue on your containers, but I haven't experienced that at all.)

I hope that's helpful to someone! :D
Blessings,
Elisabeth

I am going to try that! I am always tossing out food because I can't remember when I put it in there. I think I will be putting an expiration date on things instead so my family can better use the leftovers since something keep longer than others. Thanks for the tip!
I've done all the guides now with at least one child and still feeling the HOD LOVE. LOL!

A wonderful tip! Thank you! I use sharpies and have to SCRUB the stew out of my plastic lids to get that permanent ink off! I sometimes just X something out and write right next to it. This sounds way easier! I have a ton of dry erase markers too!!! Thanks!

This is what I"m excited about, too! I really dislike wasting food, and this helps to avoid that! :D

I'm so glad this is helpful for you. I've actually been using wet erase markers mostly, but I think dry erase will work too. I'm thinking that dry erase might be harder to get off of your containers, but I'm not sure. :D
