Since we have many new faces on the board and scheduling is such a hot topic, I'm bumping this thread to the top again! :D If you haven't posted your schedule or if your schedule has really changed since the last time you posted here, we'd love you to post on this helpful thread!

Blessings,
Carrie

I'm not sure I have a schedule, I only have one child.

We try to start at 11am... Yes, I know. I am NOT a morning person. I do clean-up, load or loads of laundry first, otherwise I can't relax to do school.

We start all over the place. Sometimes I start with math and sometimes LA. I change it. We continue with the left side of the page of Beyond after Math or LA, then work through it to the right, then usually finish with Math if we didn't start with it. And depending on the breaks my dd seems to need, we finish around 1:30-2:30, with snack or lunch in between.

Basically I fly by the seat of my pants ... daily. I'm starting a file folder w/pre-cut crafts that are needed or copies or anything for each day. Starting Monday....I just rearranged my homeschool stuff. My dd would like more crafts, so I'll see if I can add a project or two.

I would like to start earlier than we do, but I'm really not a morning person. I think, though, we're going to be doing chores first to get our hearts pumping, and then move into the left side of the book, and then do the right side.

I would definitely like to know how others schedule LHTH alongside LHFHG.

Our Schedule and a ?

Post by wisdom4us » Mon Apr 14, 2008 6:57 am

We start the left side of the book at 10:00 a.m.and continue to the right. We *usually* finish between 12-12:30 just in time for lunch. We are NOT doing Singapore math this year though, something else that is more time consuming. OH, we are using Beyond Little Hearts. Just started in January.

I am interested in knowing how everyone schedules 2 programs at once. We will more than likely be doing LHFHG and Bigger Hearts come late summer.

Okay this is how are schulde looks like right now. We have just started BLHFHG and my son loves it. I usually do phonic with both kids first one at a time. then I start Beyond and in between that I will work with my daugther( work books for now) then we will do all the reading for Beyond. If the other kids want to sit they can but don't have to. When we are done with that we do the Bible part with all the kids. I will be starting LHFHG probably next week so we will just have to see how it works then. right now we start around 8 and get done around 10. Not to bad.

Dare I say our schedule has changed again somewhat? In brief, I'll just say that in Bigger..., my ds picks the order he wants to go in. I tell him he needs to begin with independent things, and then I work with my other ds on his LHFHG things. I try to do the singing with both of them prior to dbaby's nap, but otherwise I just go between the 2 of them and do the things I need to teach. It works well, and my oldest ds loves the control he has over his day. He is able to work from the guide very easily. We still have a big recess in the middle of the day and do Storytime with snacks all together. We're still done early. Having a great year!

We have had a change in schedule as well, one of our recurring appointments moved PTL!

Now 8-9 Breakfast morning routine
9-9:30 no tasks Mom rummaging around finding things.
9:30-11 School
11-11:30 recess
11:30- Till daddy comes home handwriting & any school work not finished.
Lunch
1-2 rest time (quite time on bed may read books daydream or sleep)
2-4 Outside play time. What ever the weather unless it lighting ect..
4-4:30 No brainer time if earned* (wii, webkinz, gameboy)
4:30-5:30 clean up/ chores and start dinner with Mommy.
6-7 Free time until Daddy comes home for dinner.
After dinner Daddy reads an extra read aloud.
8:30 get ready for bed.

It's been working out great! the days I stick to it.
* computer time (no brainer time) is conditional on doing her morning routine without being reminded. She gets 15 of play time which she may extend to 30 if she pays an extra 25 cents.

Now i just have to find time to get to the gym!
