Finished the first week of Beyond

Post by naturalhomestead » Mon May 23, 2011 3:59 pm

So today was the last day of the first week of going through Beyond with the boys. I don't know if Carrie has blessed me more or my sons more. We have all had smiles on our faces and the days have just gone so smoothly, even for the first week to my amazement. The kids, especially the oldest, have kept saying how much he loves to be homeschooled and that I'm such a good teacher. Only by God's grace I told Him. the kids can't get enough of the books. Benjamin and his cat Grimalkin has been a huge hit and even the American Pioneers book (that we went through last year with another curriculum) has been one that is so hard to put down. They beg for more. But I show them the manual and that I read what the book told me too. I love it. It is hard to put some books down but we know we will come back to it. I had asked the kids the second day what they thought about the new school and they were literally jumping up and down and yelling how much they all loved it. To see my kids actually loving and wanting to do school and not turn their noses up when I say it is school time is such an answer to prayer. Our oldest told me last Thursday as he was getting his books out to start the day, that when he has children, he hopes that he and his wife will be able to homeschool. He is only 8, almost 9. I love hearing that and our prayer is that the many years ahead of him home schooling will only solidify that in his heart.
Thank you Carrie and everyone on this board who encourages and talks through our questions with us newbies.

We're paused for the summer and picking Beyond back up in Unit 10 this August.
