I would love to hear your thoughts on these two sets. I'm so torn as to which ones to use. I will be doing BLHFHG with a 7 year old boy, but I will be saving it to do with his little brother and sister. It seems the logical choice would be to go with the Classic Titles, because I have both boys and a girl, but I really want ds to love these books and want more. DS loves all things boy, but is very sensitive at the same time. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tracy

Re: Boy Interest or Classic Titles
Actually, for our guides I have picked and chosen between the boy/girl interests and classic titles depending on the titles and interests. Also, some of the boy interest are such good books any girl would enjoy them too. For instance in Beyond, We had already recently read aloud or heard on audio books Little House, Charlotte's Web, House at Pooh Corner (classic), Squanto, Sarah Whitcher's Story, (boy) and Helen Keller and Trumpet of the Swan (girl) So I just picked one from each in order, so this is what ours looked like:
Benjamin West (Classic)
Lion to Guard Us (Girl)
Cabin Faced West (Girl)
Cricket in Times Square (Boy)
Key to the Treasure (Boy)
Pagoo (Classic)
Mr. Popper's Penquins (Boy)
All-of-a-Kind Family (Girl)
Aesop's Fables (Classic)
Some I got from the library, others I owned, others I bought. It was a great variety. So don't feel like it is all or nothing. We've enjoyed all of these books. For Preparing, I don't think there was a classic/boy/girl choice I just did whatever is in the package. Again, all GREAT books. For CTC, we are doing the History interest for the Read Aloud and using a mixture of the Boy/Girl Interest books for DITHOR.
Hope that helps!

I mixed and matched, based on what I thought my son would be interested in--we also have done DITHOR, so I have used some of the ones I wanted him to read with that, too!!!

Re: Boy Interest or Classic Titles
I did Beyond and ordered the Boy interest set. I have 3 boys and a girl. I am getting ready to take my 2nd son through Beyond and have decided to order a few different books than what I read my first son just to switch things up a little.
However, I do want to mention a couple of books that my oldest son absolutely adored were "The Sword in the Tree" and "The Apple and the Arrow".
He also loved "Key to the Treasure".

Re: Boy Interest or Classic Titles
We'll do Beyond in the fall. I picked books according to interest. We ended up with a classic, a girl, and the rest boys. I think picking a few different ones next time through will be nice for you since they'll be new.
