Would this be too silly/crazy???

This is where new posts begin. All questions or discussions about any of Heart of Dakota's curriculums start here. If you wish to share a one-time post about your family's experience with our curriculum, you may post under the specific curriculum title (found beneath this "Main Board" heading).

I think Lee Ann has a good point. Sometimes we are just drawn to something and if we don't do it we always wonder. I also am really glad I tried MFW. It is a quality program, it's really very different I think than HOD. It actually really helped me to figure out what I wanted and I think that is very important. Some people absolutely love it. Hopefully for you that would be the case. And if not HOD will be here and we would love to do HOD with you if that is what you decide.8) I hope I came across OK. I just think your chances for liking MFWK and having it be a success for you go down actually adding HOD to it.

Hoping you find the best answer for your family! :D

I also think it would be too much. I've been at this for 11 years, and I have used MFW K and ECC. It would be very awkward combining 2 complete programs. If you feel led to go with MFW, try that. You know you can always try HOD later if it doesn't work out. Homeschooling does sometimes involve trial and error :)

Julie,

I know the ladies are having a hard time knowing how to help you best in your decisions because the part of HOD that you're wanting to use is only a fragment of what we're about progam-wise. To put it in perspective for you, it would be like you asking on the MFW board if you could just omit the history, Bible, and science in MFW and use the rest of MFW. Ask yourself, what would they say at MFW? They'd say you'd be missing out on the whole point and purpose of MFW.

So, we're struggling in how to help you, while still giving you good advice. Only you can know what the Lord is directing your family to do, and you may certainly use any part of any program that you feel meets those goals. I know we have had ladies start out using HOD to supplement another program, and then have later switched over to HOD entirely, so you're not alone. But, the only one who can truly know what's right for you is you. :D

We wish you peace in your decisions!

Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks for all of your input ladies. I think I`ll have to wait to do HOD with my daughter. I already have MFW K and Grade 1 so might as well use it. Then I`ll re-evaluate after and see where we`ll go from there. I am going to be using LHTH with my son this Fall. I am looking forward to it.

Julie,

Thanks for updating us. It sounds like you have a plan! :D That is always a relief, and we'll pray the Lord will give you a peace with your plan.

Blessings,
Carrie
