Copyright & versions of books

Post by wehoagies » Thu Apr 14, 2011 12:42 pm

Hi!

I plan to use Preparing Hearts this year. I already own some of the books and am able to get others used. I am wondering which books need to be the exact version listed on the HOD website and which can be different (different copyright or hard bound vs. paperback, etc.).

History Economy package books: I was thinking I read somewhere that A Child's History of the world needed to be the 1997 version. Is that right? I own the 1924 copyright version for Sonlight. What about the rest of the books for History (Grandpa's Box, Life in the Great Ice Age, Hero Tales)

Science: In the manual, are these listed as "Read chapter 1" or is it more "Read pages 6-11"?

History Read Alouds: In the manual, are these listed as "Read chapter 1" or is it more "Read pages 6-11"?

Self-Study Deluxe History Package for the Newly Independent Reader: In the manual, are these listed as "Read chapter 1" or is it more "Read pages 6-11"?

Self-Study Extension Package for Older Students: In the manual, are these listed as "Read chapter 1" or is it more "Read pages 6-11"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Andi

For the most part, they are listed by page number. Sometimes it is read Ch1. pgs 6-10. I think it would be important to have matching versions or spend some time up front going through and trying to match your books with the guide especially for the independent boxes. I know I've been using two books this year with Bigger that weren't exactly the same edition. In one case it wasn't a big deal because the chapters were always easy to match just by idea and title, but for the other it has been a pain to match up the chapters. So it might work for you to use the books you already have, but it might take a bit more work for you upfront to figure out how they match up. HTH! :D
