What do you do....

Post by mommyof2ladies » Mon Mar 21, 2011 2:26 pm

Hi ladies! In my state (GA) we have to have 180 days of school for the year. We will be doing Beyond and LHTH/LHFHG next year. Both only have 34 weeks of plans, so I need to come up with 2 more weeks of school. If you are in a state that requires 180 days, what do you do to get the required amount of days in? I was thinking of doing a couple week long unit studies from Amanda Bennett, but would love some more ideas.

Thank you for your help!

We're in TN but we also have to have 180 days of school. I just schedule in 10 field trip days. We have a zoo, aquarium, and lots of nature trails close by so I just leave rooms for days we just want to get out of the house and we pick a place and have fun. Our homeschool group also schedules field trips several times a year and we've gone on a few of them also.

We count field trip days, park days (field day, p.e.), maybe an educational movie day, etc. PS counts days of instruction even when all students aren't present, so we do too. ;)

We are in TN too and they require 180 days. I just really don't worry that much about it. My kids are learning something every day.
