Let me explain:
when I was putting together all the assignments and things for the boys every week, I found that if we didn't do everything I had planned we just did nothing for the day. With HOD we can do part of a day and still feel like we had fun and got some schoolwork done! And not be behind the next day!
Jake (ds #1) had his yearly physical this week. At 10 am. So we didn't do schoolwork before we left. When we got home, we had time to do some things before I had to go to work, and we got half a day's work done! And it was fun, it wasn't rushed, and I didn't have to say, "hurry up!! just one more!!" at ALL!!
And when we get up in the morning and I say, "oh, I'm lazy today-let's skip school." I now get, "Can't we do just a little?? please???" instead of the usual whoops and cheers I used to get!!
The one problem is, though, I used to be able to use skipping school work as a reward!

And how many parents can say they use schoolwork as a reward????
And on a side note...I gotta brag on Jake...he just turned 14. He's 5 foot 8 and 211 lbs. And the ped said he's just STARTING puberty.
But still, he's such a gentle child. He's the one who teaches the 3 year old class at sunday school, and who rocks his baby brother to sleep sometimes, and kisses boo-boos. He's a good kid!
