Singapore Textbook? Workbook?

Post by mercymom » Tue Feb 01, 2011 1:34 pm

I'm looking at Beyond for DD this fall and wondering how the textbook/ workbooks work? If she is in 1A, I don't buy the textbook along with Beyond bc the hands on is written in already? But if she's in 1A in Little Heart you buy the textbook too? Are there hands on things in the textbook?

No, there are not hands-on activities in the textbooks for 1A on up. :D

Beyond has excellent teacher instruction for 1A/1B written within the HOD guide that utilizes matching hands-on activities. The 1A/1B textbook is therefore not needed. :D

LHFHG has teacher instruction for Earlybird K math within the HOD guide that utilizes hands-on activities. It does not have the HOD teacher instruction and hands-on activities for 1A/1B, but instead has just a list of 1A/1B Textbook/Workbook pages in the Appendix. In this case, the textbook only provides the teacher instruction and therefore is needed.

We prefer the hands-on instruction HOD has written through 2B. We then found the transition to the textbook for instruction (with no hands-on activities) to be smooth in 3A. :D HTH!

Ok, makes sense. Thanks!

I'm still confused though, lol. I actually have parts of Singapore 1A - I have a book that says Singapore Workbook 1A part two? What is that?

mercymom,

I'm wondering if you have a different Singapore Math series than the one we schedule in our guides? Or, perhaps I'm not understanding what you have? :D The Primary Mathematics U.S. Edition is the one scheduled within our guides. Workbook 1A/1B are needed for use along with the hands-on math lessons within the Beyond guide. Here's a link to the workbooks on our website: http://www.heartofdakota.com/BLHFHG-math.php

Hope that helps! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
