Let me first say I have not used this -we've only used LHTH - and I love everything I see in this curriculum BUT I am very concerned about what appears to be the history core - A Child's History of the World. My 7 year old is a very (very!) advanced reader and I don't think I will be able to censor the parts - she reads anything she can get her hands on! I notice in LHTH that there are often choices for books. Is there a different choice to replace this text? If not, perhaps some could share how they've gotten around it? I'm considering looking for a used copy and ripping out pages at this point! Also, in the recommended version, have the racial slurs been removed?
Thanks!!

Re: Concerned about Child's History of the World
Hi Tamberly!
Welcome!
I'm a HOD newbie (sort of) but I recently read several threads about CHOW. Here are a few links that will include Carrie's comments/explanations as well as how CHOW is integrated with the other resources planned for Preparing! We read through the first half of CHOW last year and I don't recall any racial slurs. We did not read the beginning chapters (big bang theory and cavemen I think
) although Carrie's ideas for how to use those to teach worldview are quite good. My DS was 7 at the time and he LOVED the style of CHOW.
I'm really excited to read it in conjunction with the other spines in Preparing!! Please do read through these threads. I think you'll find the answers that you are looking for!

Re: Concerned about Child's History of the World
Thank you! I read through those and some other posts I found earlier - looks like this is a common concern. I can't find a curriculum with a better fit for my daughter so we will somehow mark out those pages we don't approve of for now. Thanks!
